About

I am a businessman, independent scholar, and writer. I went to college at Harvard, graduating in 1985, and then studied political philosophy with the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago. I was fortunate to encounter exceptional teachers at both schools. I later went to work in finance, and had my own firm for many years. Meanwhile, I continued pursuing other interests, including writing (and reading) fiction, and working on my dissertation. I received my Ph.D. in 2010. I have since taught political theory courses at Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Military Institute.

I have written on a variety of subjects for many publications, and have also written much which has not been published, mostly fiction. I decided to bring most of my writings together here.
